Here We Go!

As you can see, this is our first post, and I’m excited to get started. In this first post, I just want to go over a little bit about who I am, what I do, and why I have this blog.

My experience with investment property exposed me to some of the shortcomings in the home improvement industry. So in 2004, I started my own home improvement company, Affordable Kitchens and Bathrooms. Rooted in customer service, open communication, quality workmanship, and unique design, AKB is sincerely an extension of who I am. My team and I have brought our over 60 years of expertise to homes of the Indianapolis area, and now we bring to you here, on the Web.

So, I’m here … ready to answer questions, inspire ideas, and clear the air on any issues you may have with your home, or home improvement project. If you have a question, simply post it in a comment below any blog post.

Talk to you soon,

David

    Hi David,

Couldn,t find on your website which three colors of granite you have reduced to $39.99/ft installed. Please advise and the thickness of the granite.

    Many thanks.

Hi Tracey, the three colors offered at that price are Venetian Gold, Acie Tuna, and Opalescence. This is grade “A” stone and it is 3cm(1 1/4″) thick with a standard polished edge! They are set up for viewing at our showroom, please call the office if you would like to setup an appointment(1.866.842.5150). Thank you!

    David:

Why are there no before/after photos on your website of client sites or listing/photos of the granite you have available and kitchens. Are you planning on posting soon? Driving to an appt/showroom is easy to ask the customer to do but many probably just go to your website and move on when no photos are availabe?

    Tracy,
    Thank you for your feedback!

We wish we had before and after photos for every project we do. Unfortunately, the lighting in most kitchens and bathrooms make it extremely difficult to get good snapshots that really showcase the work. We are constantly improving our Website and are working on updated photos right now, look for them soon!

In regard to the stone products, we are developing a Stone Center for our Web site as we speak. We’re excited about this addition, as it will offer all types of information including:
-Differences between types of stone, like Quartz and Granite
-Maintenance and stone-care tips and guidelines
    -Available colors and finishes!

I typically do all my own home improvement jobs (from finishing a full basement to installing a large paver patio), but… We are now facing down a complete master bath renovation. I’m too busy, old or lazy (pick two in any order) to do this one alone. Do you work with homeowners who want to do some of the work, but lean heavily on you for most of the work? Also, if we find fixtures, etc. that we like can we buy them directly or do we need to purchase materials through your company?

  • http://affordablekandb.com David

Hi Seth, thank you for your inquiry! We absolutely work with homeowners that are interested in doing some of the work themselves. You are welcome to purchase fixtures outside of our company but we often find our prices are right in line with what you get direct as our buying power allows us volume pricing. If you are interested in a consultation, please contact us at 317.575.9540 to set up an appointment!
